Why Essential Oils?

Essential oils are concentrated aromatic compounds derived from plants. They help herbs, shrubs, flowers, weeds, and trees by aiding their metabolism, (things like defense, respiration, and photosynthesis.) Humans have been using them since 2000 BC, but it wasn’t until the 1920’s that the French chemist René-Maurice Gattefossé coined the term aromatherapy. One day in lab his hand caught on fire, so he doused it with the nearest liquid, which happened to be lavender. A few days later Gattefossé noticed how quickly his hand had healed. Trying to find an answer why, he reasoned that since essential oils aid the plant’s metabolism, they might also help human’s metabolism.

Today, essential oils are used for physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Certain scents like bergamot are calming and relieve anxiety, while others like peppermint are uplifting and increase energy. They fight depression, anger, sadness… it’s a simple, holistic way to stay happy and healthy.
