HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis is very descriptive to daydreaming. But unlike daydreaming, hypnosis is very goal-directed. Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis in a therapeutic setting to assist achievement, such as the following: habit control, nail-biting and bed-wetting; improvement in performances such as athletic and career goals; interpersonal skills; pain management involving areas of chronic pain, child birth pain, and pain during surgery. Hypnotherapy is notably practiced in smoking cessation, social confidence, sleep disturbances, stress reduction, and weight management. Hypnotherapists assist clients in goal selection. It is then used as a tool to facilitate behavioral changes. Hypnotherapists combine hypnosis with relaxation techniques, affirmations, guided imagery, re-framing, and goal-setting techniques. Hypnotherapy is based on the theory of mind-body connection. During the process it can enhance one’s own healing potential.
