STRESS REDUCTION
Relaxation through guiding and teaching is presented to the client to aid in stress reduction through a variety of techniques designed to create a self-help practice. Imagery is also included, as needed, to reach the level of stress reduction the client wants to achieve. The goal of this modality is for the client to manage stress through learning and using relaxation techniques.

STRESS REDUCTION TRAINING Mindfulness-based stress reduction: nineteen years ago, Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinns started a stress reduction group in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, exclusively for people referred by their doctors for help with severe medical problems. The results of his work were so remarkable that the U.of Mass.Clinic is now the largest research on stress reduction. The U. of Mass. program has found that most people experience long-lasting changes, reduction of pain, anxiety, and other specific medical symptoms, deep positive changes in attitude and behavior including improved self-esteem, increased energy, enthusiasm, and ability to trust, increased ability to relax, and greater ability to cope with short term, as well as long term stress or pain. Initial research on this Stress Reduction Training indicates similar results.
